Privacy Policy for SubTheater
Effective Date: May 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Doubbletap Technology Solutions ("Doubbletap," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the SubTheater Chrome Extension (the "Extension").
SubTheater was built with a strict "privacy-by-design" philosophy. Because we believe your browsing habits are your own business, we want to be completely transparent: we do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data, browsing history, or Reddit content on our servers.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike many other browser extensions, SubTheater operates entirely within the context of your browser and does not communicate with any external servers owned by Doubbletap.
- No Personal Information: We do not ask for, collect, or store your name, email address, Reddit credentials, or any other account information.
- No Browsing History: We do not track which subreddits you visit or which videos you watch.
- No Analytics or Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics tools (like Google Analytics) to track your usage, clicks, or behavior within the Extension.
- No Data Monetization: We do not sell, rent, or trade any user data to third parties.
2. How Data is Handled Locally
To provide features like your preferred volume level or auto-scroll state, SubTheater may utilize your browser's local storage:
- Chrome Storage API: Any settings you choose (such as muting preferences or playback speed) are saved directly in your own Chrome browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us.
- Session Memory: The list of videos currently playing in Theater Mode is kept temporarily in your browser's memory and is cleared as soon as you close the tab or the Theater Mode overlay.
3. Interaction with Reddit
SubTheater is designed to enhance your experience on Reddit.com.
- Direct API Communication: When you enter Theater Mode, the Extension makes a direct request to Reddit's public API to fetch the video links and comments for that specific subreddit. This communication happens directly between your browser and Reddit's servers.
- Third-Party Policies Apply: Since SubTheater displays content from Reddit, your use of the platform remains governed by Reddit’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
4. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any personal data from any users, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy whenever changes are made.
