This Privacy Policy describes how Doubbletap Technology Solutions ("Doubbletap," "we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the Betterchat Chrome Extension (the "Extension").
Betterchat was built with a strict "privacy-by-design" philosophy. Because Betterchat is a productivity tool meant for professionals handling potentially sensitive prompts, we want to be completely transparent: we do not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data or prompt content on our servers.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
Unlike many other browser extensions, Betterchat operates entirely on your local device.
- No Personal Information: We do not ask for, collect, or store your name, email address, or any account credentials.
- No Prompt Data: The text you type, edit, and format within the Betterchat rich text editor never leaves your device through our Extension. We do not have a database, and we cannot see your prompts.
- No Analytics or Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics tools to track your usage, clicks, or behavior within the Extension.
2. How Your Data is Handled Locally
To provide you with features like auto-saving drafts (so you don't lose your work if your browser closes or refreshes), Betterchat utilizes your browser's local storage capabilities:
- Local Storage (IndexedDB): Your prompt drafts are saved directly into your own Chrome browser's IndexedDB. This data is stored strictly on your local hard drive and is never transmitted to us or any third-party servers.
- Text Formatting: The conversion of your rich text input into Markdown formatting happens entirely locally within your browser's memory.
3. Interaction with Third-Party AI Platforms
Betterchat is designed to format and paste text into the native input windows of third-party platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude.
- Manual Transmission: Betterchat does not automatically send your prompts to these AI platforms. You must actively click the "Send" button within the respective platform's interface.
- Third-Party Policies Apply: Once you submit your prompt to ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude, that text is governed by the respective privacy policies and terms of service of those platforms. We encourage you to review their policies regarding how they handle your chat data.
4. Your Rights and Data Management
Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it:
- Deleting Drafts: You can delete your saved prompts at any time directly through the Betterchat interface.
- Clearing Browser Data: If you clear your Chrome browser's local storage/cache or uninstall the Extension, all your saved Betterchat drafts will be permanently deleted from your device.
5. Children's Privacy
The Extension is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 13. Since we do not collect any personal data from any users, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this policy whenever changes are made.
